Winery and Heuriger on one courtyard
Here in Teesdorf, the Heuriger and the Vinothek share one courtyard at Wiener Neustädter Straße 75. The wines are made in the press house on Badnerstraße.
Our vineyards cover 25 hectares in total. They are spread over eight single vineyards in Teesdorf, Leobersdorf, Baden and Tattendorf, in the heart of the Thermenregion.
In 2016 we signed up for the switch to organic, and since 2019 we have been certified by Bio Austria. In the cellar we fine with pure potato protein, so our wines are vegan too.
The family's Heuriger
We open several times a year on fixed dates, then Thursday to Sunday and public holidays 11 am to 11 pm. Doris and Tamara run the Heuriger (wine tavern); Gerlinde has been part of it for decades.
What comes to the table suits the season. In autumn that means game, chestnuts, pumpkin and mushrooms, with our wines by the glass.
More from the grape
We want to use as much of the grape as we can. We have made verjus since 2015. From the seeds we press grape seed oil, and the press cake becomes grape seed flour.
For the balsamic vinegar we boil grape juice down to a thick syrup. We mix it with vinegar, without adding sugar; it matures in barrique barrels upstairs in the Vinothek. A brandy has been in barrique since around 2001; only half is ever bottled, and the rest is topped up with fresh brandy.
In Teesdorf since 1970
In 1970 Othmar and Hilda Frühwirth bought the house on Wiener Neustädter Straße, a former Konsum grocery shop. What has been added since, from the press house to the new press, is shown in our roadmap.
