Ried Hutweide
The grapes for Zweigelt selection 2022 grow in the Ried Hutweide vineyard in Teesdorf, on pure gravel that holds hardly any water and naturally has little humus. Its rows are green all year, sown with clover, phacelia and buckwheat instead of grass. We use no herbicides.
The 2022 harvest
The must for Zweigelt selection 2022 measured 20.5 °KMW: the Klosterneuburg must scale shows how much sugar is in the grape juice, one degree being roughly one per cent.
What the figures say
Zweigelt selection 2022 has 13.2 % vol. alcohol, 3.4 g/l residual sugar and 5.7 g/l acidity. It is made in a dry style, which under wine law means no more than 4 g/l residual sugar, or up to 9 g/l if the acidity is at most 2 g/l lower.
The sugar-free extract of Zweigelt selection 2022 is 28.9 g/l: everything dissolved in the wine apart from water, alcohol and sugar, such as minerals, acids and tannins. In the laboratory, it showed 31 mg/l free and 69 mg/l total sulphur. Per 100 ml, it has 323 kJ or 78 kcal. It received the official inspection number N 20847/23 after being analysed in the laboratory and tasted by an official panel.
The Selection line
Zweigelt selection 2022 belongs to our Selection line, which is allowed to mature longer than Classic. It spends twelve months in used wooden barrels after fermentation.
