Ried Hutweide
The grapes for Chardonnay selection 2024 grow in the Ried Hutweide vineyard in Tattendorf, on pure gravel that holds hardly any water and naturally has little humus. Its rows are green all year, sown with clover, phacelia and buckwheat instead of grass. We use no herbicides.
The 2024 harvest
The must for Chardonnay selection 2024 measured 20.5 °KMW: the Klosterneuburg must scale shows how much sugar is in the grape juice, one degree being roughly one per cent.
What the figures say
Chardonnay selection 2024 has 13.6 % vol. alcohol, 3.2 g/l residual sugar and 5.1 g/l acidity. It is made in a dry style, which under wine law means no more than 4 g/l residual sugar, or up to 9 g/l if the acidity is at most 2 g/l lower.
The sugar-free extract of Chardonnay selection 2024 is 21.6 g/l: everything dissolved in the wine apart from water, alcohol and sugar, such as minerals, acids and tannins. In the laboratory, it showed 36 mg/l free and 84 mg/l total sulphur. Per 100 ml, it has 330 kJ or 79 kcal. It received the official inspection number N 20328/25 after being analysed in the laboratory and tasted by an official panel.
The Selection line
Chardonnay selection 2024 belongs to our Selection line, which is allowed to mature longer than Classic. It matures roughly half in 500-litre wooden casks and half in stainless steel.
Other vintages
Besides 2024, there are also the 2022, 2023 and 2025 vintages of Chardonnay selection. The overview lists vineyard, harvest and status.
